The Battle of Sheriffmuir took place on November 13, 1715, during the Jacobite Rising. It was fought between the forces loyal to the House of Stuart, led by John Erskine, Earl of Mar, and the government troops commanded by General William Wade. The battle occurred near Dunblane in central Scotland.
Although the battle was indecisive, it marked a significant moment in the struggle for the Jacobite cause. Both sides claimed victory, but the Jacobites failed to gain the momentum needed to advance their campaign, leading to the eventual decline of the uprising.
