Battle of Prestonpans
The Battle of Prestonpans took place on September 21, 1745, during the Jacobite Rising. It was fought near Prestonpans, Scotland, between the forces of the Jacobite leader Charles Edward Stuart and the British government troops. The battle was notable for its swift and decisive outcome, with the Jacobites achieving a surprising victory.
The Jacobite army, composed mainly of Scottish Highlanders, used their knowledge of the terrain to their advantage. The British forces, led by General Sir John Cope, were caught off guard and suffered significant losses.
