vampire bats
Vampire bats are small, nocturnal mammals found primarily in Central and South America. They are known for their unique feeding habits, as they primarily consume blood from other animals. There are three species of vampire bats: the common vampire bat, the hairy-legged vampire bat, and the white-winged vampire bat.
These bats have specialized adaptations, including sharp teeth and an anticoagulant enzyme in their saliva that prevents the blood from clotting while they feed. Vampire bats typically feed on livestock or birds, and they can consume up to half their body weight in blood during a single feeding session.
