Microbats
Microbats are small bats belonging to the suborder Microchiroptera. They are typically characterized by their small size, with many species weighing less than 20 grams. Microbats primarily feed on insects, using echolocation to navigate and hunt in the dark. Their ability to emit high-frequency sounds allows them to detect prey and avoid obstacles.
These bats are found in various habitats around the world, except for extreme deserts and polar regions. Microbats play a crucial role in controlling insect populations, making them important for ecosystems and agriculture. Some species are also known to migrate seasonally in search of food and suitable roosting sites.
