Homonym: Bats (Sports)
Bats are flying mammals belonging to the order Chiroptera. They are characterized by their elongated fingers and a thin membrane of skin that stretches between their limbs, allowing them to fly. Bats are found all over the world, except in extreme deserts and polar regions, and they play essential roles in ecosystems, such as pollination and pest control.
There are over 1,400 species of bats, making them one of the most diverse groups of mammals. They primarily feed on insects, fruit, nectar, and small animals. Many bats use echolocation, a biological sonar, to navigate and hunt in the dark, emitting high-frequency sounds that bounce off objects to help them locate prey.
