thyrohyoid
The thyrohyoid is a small muscle located in the neck, specifically between the thyroid cartilage and the hyoid bone. It plays a crucial role in the movement of the larynx and helps in swallowing by assisting in the elevation of the larynx during this process.
This muscle is innervated by the hypoglossal nerve and is part of the group of muscles known as the infrahyoid muscles. The thyrohyoid works in coordination with other muscles to maintain proper function of the voice box and support the airway during breathing and speaking.
