sloth bear
The sloth bear is a medium-sized bear species native to the Indian subcontinent, including countries like India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. They have shaggy black fur, a distinctive white or cream-colored V-shaped mark on their chest, and long, curved claws that help them dig for insects and fruits. Sloth bears primarily feed on termites, ants, and honey, using their strong snouts to suck up food.
Unlike other bear species, sloth bears are mostly nocturnal and tend to be more social, often seen in small family groups. They are known for their unique vocalizations, which include grunts and roars. Due to habitat loss and poaching, sloth bears are classified as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
