normative social influence
Normative social influence refers to the influence of other people that leads us to conform in order to be liked or accepted by them. This type of social influence often occurs in group settings where individuals may change their behavior, opinions, or beliefs to fit in with the group, even if they privately disagree.
This phenomenon is commonly observed in various social situations, such as in schools, workplaces, or among friends. People may feel pressured to adopt certain behaviors, like dressing a certain way or participating in specific activities, to avoid social rejection or to gain approval from their peers, such as friends or colleagues.
