naag (Serpent)
In Hindu mythology, a "naag" refers to a serpent or snake, often depicted as a powerful and divine being. Naags are associated with water bodies and are believed to be protectors of treasures and sacred places. They are commonly represented in art and literature, symbolizing both danger and protection.
Naags are often linked to the deity Shiva, who is sometimes shown with a naag coiled around his neck. In various stories, naags can take on human forms and are involved in significant events, such as the churning of the ocean, known as Samudra Manthan, where they played a crucial role.
