Serpent Deities
Serpent deities are mythological figures often represented as snakes or serpents, symbolizing various aspects of life, death, and rebirth. Many cultures, including the Mesoamerican and Hindu traditions, revere these beings for their connection to fertility, water, and the earth. They can embody both creation and destruction, reflecting the dual nature of existence.
In Ancient Egypt, the goddess Wadjet was depicted as a cobra and associated with protection and royalty. Similarly, the Norse god Jörmungandr, the Midgard Serpent, encircled the world and represented chaos and the cyclical nature of life. These deities highlight the significance of serpents in human mythology.
