Colugos, also known as flying lemurs, are unique mammals found primarily in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. Despite their name, they are not true lemurs and belong to their own order called Dermoptera. Colugos are known for their remarkable gliding ability, which they achieve through a large membrane of skin that stretches from their neck to the tips of their fingers, toes, and tail.
These nocturnal creatures are herbivorous, primarily feeding on leaves, fruits, and flowers. Colugos have large eyes adapted for night vision and a flat body that helps them glide efficiently between trees. Their ability to glide can reach distances of up to 150 meters, making them skilled navigators of their forest habitat.
