desert climates
Desert climates are characterized by low precipitation, typically receiving less than 10 inches of rain per year. These regions often experience extreme temperature variations, with hot days and cooler nights. The lack of moisture leads to sparse vegetation, primarily consisting of drought-resistant plants like cacti and shrubs.
There are two main types of desert climates: hot deserts, such as the Sahara, and cold deserts, like the Gobi. Both types have unique ecosystems adapted to their harsh conditions. Despite their arid nature, deserts can support a variety of wildlife, including reptiles, rodents, and insects, which have evolved to survive with minimal water.
