chyme
Chyme is a semi-liquid mixture of partially digested food and digestive juices that forms in the stomach. After food is ingested, it is broken down by stomach acids and enzymes, creating this thick, soupy substance. Chyme then moves into the small intestine for further digestion and nutrient absorption.
The process of chyme formation begins when food is mixed with gastric juices, which contain hydrochloric acid and pepsin. These components help break down proteins and kill harmful bacteria. Once the chyme reaches the small intestine, it is mixed with bile from the gallbladder and pancreatic juices to aid in digestion.
