Digestion
Digestion is the process by which the body breaks down food into smaller, absorbable components. It begins in the mouth, where food is chewed and mixed with saliva, and continues in the stomach and intestines. Enzymes and acids help to further break down food, allowing nutrients to be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Once the nutrients are absorbed, they are transported to cells throughout the body for energy, growth, and repair. The remaining waste products are eventually eliminated through the large intestine and rectum. Proper digestion is essential for overall health and well-being.
