broken heart syndrome
Broken heart syndrome, also known as takotsubo cardiomyopathy, is a temporary heart condition that can be triggered by extreme emotional stress, such as the loss of a loved one or a traumatic event. It mimics the symptoms of a heart attack, including chest pain and shortness of breath, but is not caused by blocked arteries.
The condition leads to a sudden weakening of the heart muscle, particularly the left ventricle, which can affect the heart's ability to pump blood effectively. Most patients recover fully within weeks, but medical attention is essential to rule out other serious heart issues.
