Zhang Jue (Taoist)
Zhang Jue was a prominent figure in Chinese history, known for his role as a Taoist leader during the late Han dynasty. He is often associated with the Yellow Turban Rebellion, a major uprising against the Han government that began in 184 CE. Zhang Jue claimed to possess healing powers and advocated for a return to a more harmonious society based on Taoist principles.
As the founder of the Way of Supreme Peace, Zhang Jue emphasized the importance of spiritual and physical well-being. His teachings attracted many followers, leading to a significant movement that challenged the existing political order. Despite the rebellion's eventual suppression, Zhang Jue's influence on Taoism and Chinese culture remains notable.
