Zengids
The Zengids were a Muslim dynasty that ruled parts of the Levant during the 12th century. Founded by Imad ad-Din Zengi, they emerged as a significant power in response to the Crusades, aiming to unify Muslim territories against the Christian invaders. The dynasty is known for its military campaigns and efforts to strengthen Islamic governance in the region.
The most notable leader of the Zengids was Nur ad-Din Zengi, who expanded their territory and influence. He is remembered for his contributions to Islamic architecture and culture, as well as for supporting the rise of Saladin, who later established the Ayyubid dynasty and continued the fight against the Crusaders.
