Nur ad-Din
Nur ad-Din was a prominent Muslim ruler in the 12th century, known for his leadership in the Zengid dynasty. He ruled over parts of modern-day Syria and Iraq, particularly the city of Aleppo. His reign lasted from 1146 until his death in 1174, during which he focused on strengthening his territories against the Crusaders.
Nur ad-Din was also a patron of the arts and architecture, commissioning many buildings, including mosques and hospitals. He is remembered for his efforts to unify the Muslim states in the region and for his support of the famous military leader Saladin, who succeeded him.
