Yuan Longping
Yuan Longping was a Chinese agronomist known as the "Father of Hybrid Rice." He was born on September 7, 1930, and dedicated his life to developing high-yield rice varieties. His work significantly increased rice production in China and around the world, helping to alleviate hunger and improve food security.
Yuan's research led to the creation of the first successful hybrid rice in the 1970s. This innovation not only boosted crop yields but also inspired similar agricultural advancements globally. He received numerous awards for his contributions, including the World Food Prize in 2004, recognizing his impact on global agriculture.
