Xu Guangqi
Xu Guangqi was a prominent Chinese scholar and official during the Ming Dynasty, born in 1562. He is best known for his contributions to science, agriculture, and mathematics. Xu was instrumental in introducing Western scientific ideas to China, particularly through his collaboration with the Jesuit missionary Matteo Ricci.
In addition to his work in science, Xu Guangqi was a key figure in the development of Chinese agriculture. He authored the influential book Nongzheng Quanshu, which focused on farming techniques and crop cultivation. His efforts helped improve agricultural practices in China during his time.
