Wolf Tone
Wolf Tone was an Irish revolutionary leader and a key figure in the struggle for Irish independence in the late 18th century. Born in 1763, he is best known for his role in founding the Society of United Irishmen, which aimed to unite Irish people, regardless of religion, to achieve political reform and independence from British rule.
Tone advocated for the use of military action to achieve these goals and sought support from France during the French Revolutionary Wars. His efforts culminated in the failed 1798 Rebellion, after which he was captured and died in prison. Tone's legacy continues to influence Irish nationalism today.
