Wing Commander Guy Gibson
Wing Commander Guy Gibson was a British Royal Air Force officer and pilot during World War II. He is best known for leading the Dambusters Raid on May 16-17, 1943, which targeted German dams using innovative bombing techniques. This daring mission aimed to disrupt German industrial production and boost Allied morale.
Gibson was awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery and leadership during the raid. He became a national hero in the UK and was later involved in other significant operations throughout the war. Tragically, he lost his life in action in September 1944, while on a bombing mission over Germany.
