William Wills
William Wills was an Australian explorer known for his role in the ill-fated Burke and Wills expedition of 1860-1861. He served as the expedition's second-in-command and was responsible for recording observations and maintaining the group's scientific data. The expedition aimed to cross Australia from south to north, but it faced numerous challenges, including harsh weather and limited supplies.
Tragically, the expedition ended in disaster, with Wills and his companions succumbing to starvation and exhaustion. Wills died in June 1861, just a few months after the journey began. His contributions to exploration and science are remembered, despite the expedition's tragic outcome.
