William Keith, 8th Earl Marischal
William Keith, 8th Earl Marischal, was a Scottish nobleman born in 1696. He was a prominent figure during the early 18th century and played a significant role in the Jacobite risings, which aimed to restore the Stuart monarchy to the British throne. His loyalty to the Jacobite cause led to his involvement in various military campaigns.
After the defeat of the Jacobites at the Battle of Culloden in 1746, Keith faced exile and lost much of his estate. He spent time in France and later returned to Scotland, where he continued to be involved in local affairs until his death in 1778.
