Wet Foot, Dry Foot Policy
The "Wet Foot, Dry Foot Policy" was a U.S. immigration policy that applied to Cuban migrants. Under this policy, if a Cuban individual reached U.S. soil (dry foot), they could stay and apply for residency. However, if they were intercepted at sea (wet foot), they would be returned to Cuba.
This policy was established in 1995 and aimed to address the influx of Cuban refugees following the Cuban Revolution. It was officially ended in January 2017, leading to changes in how Cuban migrants are treated under U.S. immigration law.
