Wet Foot, Dry Foot
"Wet Foot, Dry Foot" was a policy established by the United States in 1995 regarding Cuban migrants. Under this policy, if a Cuban individual reached U.S. soil (a "dry foot"), they were allowed to stay and apply for residency. However, if they were intercepted at sea (a "wet foot"), they were typically returned to Cuba.
The policy aimed to address the influx of Cuban refugees following the Cuban Revolution and was part of broader U.S.-Cuba relations. It was officially ended in January 2017, reflecting changes in immigration policy and diplomatic relations between the two countries.
