West Virginia Central and Pittsburg Railway
The West Virginia Central and Pittsburg Railway (WVC&P) was a short-line railroad established in the late 19th century. It primarily served the region of West Virginia, connecting various towns and facilitating the transport of coal and timber, which were vital to the local economy. The railway played a significant role in the development of the area by improving access to markets and resources.
In 1910, the WVC&P became part of the larger Pittsburgh and West Virginia Railway system. Over the years, it underwent several ownership changes and eventually ceased operations in the mid-20th century. Today, remnants of the railway can still be seen, reflecting its historical importance in the region's transportation network.
