Wenceslas I
Wenceslas I, also known as Saint Wenceslas, was a Duke of Bohemia who ruled in the early 10th century. He is remembered for his efforts to promote Christianity in the region and for his role in unifying the Czech lands. His reign was marked by conflicts with his brother, Boleslaus, who opposed his Christian policies.
Wenceslas was assassinated in 935 AD, and he became a martyr and a symbol of Czech nationalism. He is the patron saint of the Czech Republic, and his legacy is celebrated annually on Wenceslas Day, which is a public holiday in the country.
