Welwitschia
Welwitschia is a unique plant native to the arid regions of Namibia and Angola. It is known for its distinctive appearance, featuring only two long, strap-like leaves that grow continuously throughout its life, which can span over a thousand years. This plant is well-adapted to its harsh environment, capable of surviving with minimal water.
The Welwitschia mirabilis is the only species in its genus and is classified as a gymnosperm. It thrives in desert conditions, relying on fog for moisture. Its unusual structure and longevity make it a fascinating subject of study in botany and ecology.
