Welsh Princes
The term "Welsh Princes" refers to the rulers of various regions in Wales during the medieval period. These princes often belonged to noble families and held power over specific territories, such as Gwynedd, Powys, and Deheubarth. The most notable among them was Llywelyn the Great, who united much of Wales in the 13th century and sought recognition from the English crown.
The Welsh Princes played a significant role in resisting English domination and maintaining Welsh culture and identity. Their struggles culminated in conflicts like the Welsh Wars of Independence, which were marked by battles against English forces. Despite their efforts, Wales eventually came under English control, leading to the end of the princely rule.
