Walney Extension
The Walney Extension is an offshore wind farm located in the Irish Sea, near the coast of England. It is part of the Walney Wind Farm project and became operational in 2018. With a total capacity of 659 megawatts, it is one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world, capable of powering over 600,000 homes.
The wind farm consists of 87 turbines, each standing 195 meters tall. It was developed by Orsted, a leading renewable energy company, and plays a significant role in the UK's efforts to increase renewable energy production and reduce carbon emissions.
