Walney Wind Farm
The Walney Wind Farm is located off the coast of Walney Island in the Irish Sea, near Barrow-in-Furness, England. It consists of two phases, with a total of 102 wind turbines, generating a combined capacity of 659 megawatts. This makes it one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world.
Operational since 2011, the wind farm plays a significant role in renewable energy production in the UK. It provides electricity to approximately 600,000 homes, contributing to the country's efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable energy sources.
