Viperinae
Viperinae is a subfamily of snakes commonly known as true vipers. They are characterized by their long, slender bodies and triangular heads, which help distinguish them from other snake families. Viperinae species are primarily found in Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia. They are known for their potent venom, which they use to immobilize prey, typically small mammals and birds.
These snakes have a variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands, and deserts. Viperinae are generally ambush predators, relying on their camouflage to blend into their surroundings. Some well-known members of this subfamily include the European adder and the Gaboon viper.
