Vikramshila University
Vikramshila University was an ancient center of learning located in present-day Bihar, India. Established in the 8th century by the Indian king Dharmapala, it was one of the two most important universities of its time, alongside Nalanda University. The university specialized in various subjects, including Buddhism, philosophy, and the arts, attracting students from different regions.
The university was known for its impressive architecture and extensive library, which housed numerous texts. It played a significant role in the spread of Buddhism and was a hub for scholars and monks. However, it declined in the 12th century due to invasions and eventually fell into obscurity.
