Vietnamization
Vietnamization was a policy introduced by U.S. President Richard Nixon in the late 1960s aimed at reducing American military involvement in the Vietnam War. The strategy focused on training and equipping the South Vietnamese Army to take over combat responsibilities, allowing U.S. troops to withdraw gradually.
The goal of Vietnamization was to create a self-sufficient South Vietnam capable of defending itself against the North Vietnamese forces. This approach sought to maintain U.S. support while promoting peace and stability in the region, ultimately leading to the end of direct American military engagement in Vietnam.
