South Vietnamese Army
The South Vietnamese Army (ARVN) was the military force of the Republic of Vietnam, commonly known as South Vietnam, from 1955 until the fall of Saigon in 1975. It was established to defend the country against the communist forces of North Vietnam and the Viet Cong. The ARVN received significant support and training from the United States and other allied nations during the Vietnam War.
The ARVN consisted of various branches, including infantry, armor, and air force units. Despite receiving substantial aid, the army faced challenges such as corruption, low morale, and difficulties in leadership. Ultimately, the ARVN was unable to withstand the final offensive by North Vietnamese forces, leading to the reunification of Vietnam.
