Vastus_Intermedius
The Vastus Intermedius is one of the four muscles that make up the quadriceps group, located in the front of the thigh. It lies beneath the Vastus Lateralis, Vastus Medialis, and Rectus Femoris muscles. This muscle plays a crucial role in extending the knee joint, which is essential for activities like walking, running, and jumping.
The Vastus Intermedius originates from the upper two-thirds of the femur and inserts into the patella via the quadriceps tendon. It is innervated by the femoral nerve, which allows it to receive signals from the brain to contract and facilitate movement.
