Vastus Lateralis
The Vastus Lateralis is one of the four muscles that make up the quadriceps group, located on the outer side of the thigh. It plays a crucial role in extending the knee and stabilizing the patella during movement. This muscle is particularly important for activities such as walking, running, and jumping, as it helps to generate power and maintain balance.
As part of the larger quadriceps muscle group, which includes the Vastus Medialis, Vastus Intermedius, and Rectus Femoris, the Vastus Lateralis works in conjunction with these muscles to facilitate leg movement. Strengthening the Vastus Lateralis can improve athletic performance and reduce the risk of knee injuries.
