Vardhamana, also known as Mahavira, was the 24th Tirthankara in Jainism. He was born in 599 BCE in Vaishali, India, and is considered a key figure in the development of Jain philosophy. Vardhamana emphasized non-violence, truth, and asceticism, advocating for a life of simplicity and self-discipline.
He attained enlightenment at the age of 42 and spent the next 30 years teaching his principles. Vardhamana's teachings laid the foundation for the Jain religion, which promotes the idea of liberation through right knowledge, right faith, and right conduct. His followers regard him as a spiritual guide and a symbol of compassion.
