Valley Fever
Valley Fever, also known as coccidioidomycosis, is a fungal infection caused by inhaling spores from the Coccidioides fungus, which is commonly found in the soil of the southwestern United States. Symptoms can include fever, cough, fatigue, and body aches. Most people recover without treatment, but some may develop more severe illness.
The infection is more common in certain areas, particularly in the San Joaquin Valley of California and parts of Arizona. People with weakened immune systems, pregnant women, and those of certain ethnic backgrounds may be at higher risk for complications. Preventive measures include avoiding dusty areas during dry seasons.
