Utu
Utu is a concept from ancient Mesopotamian mythology, particularly associated with the sun and justice. Often depicted as a solar deity, Utu was believed to bring light and order to the world, ensuring fairness and balance. He was worshipped in various city-states, including Ur and Larsa, where temples were dedicated to him.
In addition to his role as a sun god, Utu was also linked to the idea of retribution and moral justice. He was thought to oversee the enforcement of laws and punish wrongdoers, embodying the principle that actions have consequences. This made him a significant figure in the legal and ethical frameworks of Mesopotamian society.
