Uterine Agenesis
Uterine Agenesis is a rare congenital condition where a female is born without a uterus. This condition is part of a group of disorders known as Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, which can also affect the development of the vagina and ovaries. Women with uterine agenesis typically have normal secondary sexual characteristics and can produce eggs, but they cannot carry a pregnancy.
Diagnosis usually occurs during adolescence when menstruation does not begin. Treatment options may include assisted reproductive technologies, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), or the use of a surrogate for those wishing to have children. Regular medical follow-up is important for managing any associated health issues.
