Umberto II of Italy
Umberto II of Italy was the last king of Italy, reigning for a brief period in 1946. Born on September 15, 1904, he was the son of King Victor Emmanuel III and Queen Elena. His reign lasted only 35 days, as Italy became a republic following a referendum that abolished the monarchy.
After his abdication, Umberto II went into exile, primarily living in Switzerland. He was known as the "King of May" due to the short duration of his rule. Umberto II passed away on March 18, 1983, in Geneva, leaving behind a legacy tied to the end of the Italian monarchy.
