USS Young
The USS Young (DD-212) was a Benson-class destroyer of the United States Navy, launched on 27 March 1942. It was named after Rear Admiral William Young, who served in the U.S. Navy during the late 19th century. The ship was primarily designed for anti-submarine warfare and escort duties during World War II.
Commissioned on 24 December 1942, the USS Young participated in several key operations in the Pacific Theater, including the Battle of Leyte Gulf. After the war, the destroyer was decommissioned in 1946 and later sold for scrap in 1971. The ship earned multiple battle stars for its service.
