USS Young (DD-1)
The USS Young (DD-1) was a destroyer in the United States Navy, commissioned in 1902. It was the first ship named after Rear Admiral John Young, who served in the Civil War. The vessel was designed for various naval operations, including escorting larger ships and conducting anti-submarine warfare.
The USS Young was part of the Benson-class destroyers and played a role in early 20th-century naval exercises. It was decommissioned in 1919 and later sold for scrap. The ship's service marked an important period in the evolution of naval warfare and the development of destroyer-class vessels.
