USS Young (DD-580)
The USS Young (DD-580) was a Gearing-class destroyer of the United States Navy, launched on April 24, 1945. It was named after Rear Admiral Sidney S. Young, who served in World War II. The ship was designed for anti-submarine warfare and surface action, featuring advanced radar and weaponry for its time.
Commissioned on December 18, 1945, the USS Young served primarily in the Pacific Fleet. It participated in various operations during the Cold War and was decommissioned in 1970. The ship was ultimately sold for scrap in 1974, marking the end of its service in the Navy.
