USS Lawrence (DD-9)
The USS Lawrence (DD-9) was a destroyer in the United States Navy, launched on December 28, 1901. It was named after James Lawrence, a naval officer known for his famous quote, "Don't give up the ship!" The ship was part of the Benson class and served primarily in the early 20th century, participating in various naval exercises and operations.
Commissioned in 1903, the USS Lawrence played a role in the Great White Fleet voyage, showcasing American naval power around the world. The destroyer was decommissioned in 1919 and ultimately sold for scrap in 1930, marking the end of its service.
