Great White Fleet
The Great White Fleet was a group of 16 battleships of the United States Navy that embarked on a world tour from 1907 to 1909. Commissioned by President Theodore Roosevelt, the fleet aimed to showcase American naval power and promote goodwill among nations. The ships were painted white, which led to their nickname.
The fleet's journey covered over 43,000 miles, visiting ports in South America, Australia, and Japan. This voyage demonstrated the United States' growing military capabilities and its commitment to international diplomacy, marking a significant moment in naval history.
