UNMIK
The United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) was established in 1999 following the Kosovo War. Its primary role is to help maintain peace and stability in the region, support the development of democratic institutions, and promote the rule of law. UNMIK operates under the authority of the United Nations Security Council and works closely with local authorities and international organizations.
UNMIK's responsibilities include overseeing the administration of Kosovo, facilitating humanitarian assistance, and fostering economic development. The mission also focuses on protecting the rights of all communities in Kosovo, including Serbs, Albanians, and others, to ensure a peaceful coexistence among diverse populations.
