Types of Erosion
Erosion is the process by which soil and rock are worn away and transported by natural forces. There are several types of erosion, including water erosion, which occurs when rain or flowing water removes soil and sediment. This type can be further divided into sheet erosion, where thin layers of soil are washed away, and gully erosion, which creates deep channels in the landscape.
Another common type is wind erosion, which happens in dry, loose soil areas where strong winds can lift and carry particles away. Additionally, glacial erosion occurs when glaciers move, scraping and carving the land beneath them. Each type of erosion plays a significant role in shaping the Earth's surface.
